Synthetic oil is oil made from petroleum or synthetic-base stocks. It’s formulated to help provide advanced protection against major causes of engine stress, such as heat, friction, and deposits.
Conventional oil is oil made from Petroleum base stocks that help provide adequate protection capabilities due to its refining process. Compared to synthetic oil, it is more prone to thinning at higher temperatures and thickening in lower temperatures.
Synthetic oil and conventional oil differ in the types of base oil, as well as additives used in formulation.
You can get your oil changed at just about any automotive shop. All Just Tires locations offer premium oil change service. To find a service center near you, go to our find a service center page.
The surest route to a happy car relationship is marked with regular oil changes. They help extend the life of your vehicle and keep you running smoothly by helping to free your engine from dirt and debris so it doesn’t have to work as hard. Oil changes also help protect your engine against future rust, wear, and corrosion.
Most oil change recommendations are based on “normal” driving conditions; however, many people drive under the definition of “severe” driving conditions, which include stop-and-go traffic, short trips of less than 5 miles, extreme temperatures, towing or carrying roof cargo systems, and coastal or mountain driving. With this in mind, we recommend consulting your owner's manual for your vehicle specifics matching to your driving conditions.
Typically, vehicles that drive under mild conditions can travel more miles before an oil change. Typically, an oil change includes replacing all the engine oil in the vehicle, along with the oil filter. This helps remove contaminants that have built up over time, and replenishes the additives in your engine’s oil.
Over a period of use, motor oil deteriorates and becomes unable to do an efficient job lubricating, cleaning and cooling engine parts. An oil change removes contaminants from your oil, helping to keep your engine and its parts working safely and smoothly.
A high-mileage oil change uses petroleum or synthetic based oils that contain ingredients designed to help take care of older engines. These ingredients, like conditioners, seal swells, antioxidants, detergents, and wear or friction additives help prevent the four major causes of engine damage: leaks, deposits, sludge and friction.
